ABOUT US

About Madagascar WEFE Nexus Community of Practice

Madagascar WEFE Nexus Community of Practice is a think tank focused on the WEFE Nexus (Water, Energy, Food, and Ecosystems), committed to promoting integrated and sustainable solutions in Madagascar.

Registered as a youth-led, non-profit association, it was established on May 14, 2024. Our team brings together young professionals from diverse backgrounds, including economics, law, environment, finance, and research, enabling a multidisciplinary and coherent approach.

The headquarters of Madagascar WEFE Nexus is located in Ampitatafika, Lot BM 209 BIS, and Antananarivo, Madagascar.

Guided by the values of excellence, integrity, solidarity, innovation, responsibility, and transparency, the organization works to strengthen capacities, raise community awareness, and train the next generation of environmental leaders in Madagascar.

VISION

We envision a future where water, energy, and food security are sustainably ensured in harmony with the environment by mobilizing youth and leveraging the WEFE Nexus approach to bridge research, action, and public policy.

MISSION

1. Empowering Youth for Sustainable Development
Building a generation committed to the sustainable and integrated management of natural resources in Madagascar by equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and leadership needed to address environmental challenges.
2. Promoting the WEFE Nexus Approach
Strengthening understanding of the interconnections between Water, Energy, Food, and Ecosystems, and promoting integrated approaches that support sustainable development and climate resilience.
3. Connecting Research, Action, and Policy
Bridging scientific research with practical solutions and public policy to generate evidence-based responses to environmental and development challenges in Madagascar.
4. Raising Environmental Awareness
Implementing awareness and educational initiatives, including in schools and universities, to encourage responsible behaviors, environmental stewardship, and sustainable natural resource management.
5. Supporting Community-Based Solutions
Promoting and supporting locally driven initiatives that contribute to ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and equitable access to natural resources.
6. Building Collaborative Partnerships
Connecting young people, researchers, communities, institutions, private-sector actors, and development partners to foster collaboration and accelerate sustainable solutions in Madagascar.
